ACT 1Darkness. Rain. From nowhere, a woman emerges from her past.HENRIETTA ISCARIOT: No parent should have to bury a child ... No mother should have to bury a son. Mothers are not meant to bury sons. It is not in the natural order of things.I buried my son. In a potter's field. In a field of Blood. In empty, acrid silence. There was no funeral. There were no mourners. His friends all absent. His father dead. His sisters refusing to attend. I discovered his body alone, I dug his grave alone, I placed him in a hole, and covered him with dirt and rock alone. I was not able to finish burying him before sundown, and I'm not sure if that affected his fate ...I begrudge God none of this. I do not curse him or bemoan my lot. And though my heart keeps beating only to keep breaking--I do not question why.I remember the morning my son was born as if it was yesterday. The moment the midwife placed him in my arms, I was infused with a love beyond all measure and understanding. I remember holding my son, and looking over at my own mother and saying, "Now I understand why the sun comes up at day and the stars come out at night. I understand why rain falls gently. Now I understand you, Mother" ...I loved my son every day of his life, and I will love him ferociously long after I've stopped breathing. I am a simple woman. I am not bright or learn-ed. I do not read. I do not write. My opinions are not solicited. My voice is notimportant ... On the day of my son's birth I was infused with a love beyond all measure and understanding ... The world tells me that God is in Heaven and that my son is in Hell. I tell the world the one true thing I know: If my son is in Hell, then there is no Heaven--because if my son sits in Hell, there is no God. 
JESUS, carrying a bucket, has approached the woman. He kisses her cheek. She does not notice. They vanish. 
A courtroom. Court is in session. A woman with wings, GLORIA, rises. 
GLORIA: Between Heaven and Hell--there is another place. This place: Hope. Hope--is located right over here in downtown Purgatory.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Next case!GLORIA: Now, Purgatory, contrary to popular belief, has plumbing, and bodegas, and they even got a movie theater and a little park that people can walk their dogs at. Hope--well it ain't got none a that, and it definitely don't smell good.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Next case, Bailiff!GLORIA: I worked here in Hope for two and a half years--thass how I got these wings. And I wouldn't trade nothing for these wings--I can fly with these wings! At night, I fly down to Earth, and I watch my littlest Babyboy sleep. He's seven, and he's got a picture of me on his wall--right in between Shaquille O'Neal and the Incredible Hulk. Then, I go fly uptown to the window of my oldest Babygirl's house and watch my granchild, Little Bit, sleep. Most nights I can see my oldest Babygirl, Tanya, with her feet in a pot of hot water, always studying books; and I'll stick around to see her man, Winston, come home late at night from work,always with a muffin or a hamburger for my Babygirl. Winston's love for my Babygirl is all over his face--I was wrong about him, I always thought he was shifty ... When I get back to Heaven, I tell my husband, DeLayne, all about it. DeLayne don't like to fly, but he likes to hear the stories, and he likes how I look like when I come home from Earth all "windblown" ... Now Hope, it changes with the times, but has stood always as God's gift to the last of his children. It is said that every civilization rearranges the cosmic furniture differently. In biblical times, Hope was an Oasis in the Desert. In medieval days, a shack free of Plague. Today, Hope is no longer a place for contemplation--litigation being the preferred new order of the day.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Where's my damn bailiff??!!BAILIFF: Here, sir.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Then call the next damn case!!!BAILIFF: Yes, sir. "God and the Kingdom of Heaven and Earth versus Thorseen the Implacable: Motion to appeal"!JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Denied--Next case!BAILIFF: "God and the Kingdom of Heaven and Earth versus Henry Wayne Masters--"JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Nope!BAILIFF: "God and the Kingdom of Heaven and Earth versus Benedict Arnold--"JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Aw, hell, no!BAILIFF: "God and the Kingdom of Heaven and Earth versus Judas Iscariot--"JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: --"Judas Iscariot" ??!! Who brings this crap before me??!!CUNNINGHAM: Your Honor, my name is Fabiana Aziza Cunningham--JUDGE LITTLEFIELD:--Never heard of you!CUNNINGHAM: I live in Purgatory.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Well you shoulda kept your legs closed! Motion denied! Next case!CUNNINGHAM: Your Honor, I have a writ signed by Saint Peter at the Gates of Heaven!JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Next Case!CUNNINGHAM: But I have a writ!BAILIFF: She has a writ, sir.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Excuse me?!BAILIFF: Just saying: The lady, she's got a writ, so, I mean--JUDGE LITTLEFIELD:--Bailiff: let's set up a little signal between the two of us, okay?BAILIFF: Okay.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Good. Now, when I come to court dressed as Ethel Merman in a one-piece bathing suit, that'll be my signal to you that I want your opinion!BAILIFF: Yes, sir.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Next case!!BAILIFF: But what about the writ, sir?JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: What's your name, Bailiff?!BAILIFF: Julius of Outer Mongolia.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: You're on work-release from Purgatory, Julius--correct?BAILIFF: Yes, sir.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Wanna get to Heaven someday? EL-FAYOUMY: Your Honor, if I may?!JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Who speaks before me?!EL-FAYOUMY: It is I, Yusef Akbar Wahid Al-Nassar Gamel El-Fayoumy!JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Who the hell are you?!EL-FAYOUMY: An attorney, great sir! Willing and able to prosecute this sham of a case and defend the Gates of Heaven and the Kingdom of God against this big shenanigan of a so-called writ, great handsome sir! Look no further, Your Honor! Yusef Akbar Wahid Al-Nassar Gamel El-Fayoumy is a beacon for justice!JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: A "beacon," eh?EL-FAYOUMY: May I approach you?JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: The bench, not me!EL-FAYOUMY: The bench! Of course! YES!--And it is a lovely bench, splendid and sturdy like the great derrière that rests upon it!! Your Honor, I received wind of this so-called "writ" several weeks ago. I have been preparing night and day to refute the allegations it contains!CUNNINGHAM: Your Honor, let the record reflect I have no opposition to Mr. El-Fayoumy here.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD (to CUNNINGHAM): Speak when spoken to!!!EL-FAYOUMY: Do not bait this great man, lady! He presided over the appeal of Attila the Hun when you were nothing more than a cheap shot of whiskey on your great-great-grandfather's first unpaid bar tab!JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Well said!EL-FAYOUMY: Forgive the outburst.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: ... You got a license to practice, Mr. El-Fajita?EL-FAYOUMY: A license? A license! Yes. Absolutely!! Submitted for your most scrupulously discerning approval, eminently great sir! 
EL-FAYOUMY crosses, fumbles, searching his pockets for the license. 
BAILIFF (cautiously): Sir, his name's El-Fayoumy.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: What?BAILIFF: You called him El-Fajita.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Just gimme my glasses!BAILIFF: You're wearing them, sir.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD (exploding): My other glasses!!!!!!!!!BAILIFF: Oh. Here.EL-FAYOUMY: Most worshipful lord and master: very tiny problem. My license, I seem to have left it in my other suit. I could rush back to Hell and retrieve it--JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: From Hell are you?EL-FAYOUMY: Temporarily detained--a problem with my papers.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: You sure about that?EL-FAYOUMY: Quite sure, your grace. I attribute the mix-up to the Americanization of the afterlife--completely understandable in lieu of recent events.JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: You're damn right.EL-FAYOUMY: Yes, your eminence--as are you, great sir!JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Cunningham! Let me see this "writ."CUNNINGHAM: Here, Your Honor. 
JUDGE reads the writ. 
EL-FAYOUMY (an aside): You have great legs, Fabiana. Free for dinner, perhaps?JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Cunningham! This writ is garbage! Next case!CUNNINGHAM: Your Honor, my client--JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Your client is Judas Iscariot! Your client sold out the son of God, for Chrissakes!CUNNINGHAM: Your Honor, that has no bearing--JUDGE LITTLEFIELD: Cunningham--Judas Iscariot committed the one unforgivable sin. ...

My Favorite Play Ever

This is my favorite play ever. I have lost track of how many times I have seen it in produced in different cities. Every time I see it I come away with something new. I love being able to read it. If you like bold, thoughtful plays this is for you. It is one of the most interesting treatments of what the love and grace of Christ means and role we may play accepting it. Warning though, do not read this play if you are easily offended by by strong language or Biblical themes presented in a non-traditional way.

I had such high hopes.
Maybe it's because I have a theological education, but I found this trite and eye-rollingly predictable. It purports to be a fresh, contemporary take on Judas but I thought it felt very dated -- something right out of the 70's.
Maybe you have to see it.

The Last Days of Judas Iscariot

This was an engaging and satisfying look at an old story from a very new angle -- viewing what is traditionally presented as a black and white story of betrayal and greed as an extremely complex web of the interactions of many complex personalities, both human and divine. The book itself, although advertised as in good condition, arrived in "like new" condition, and arrived sooner than expected.

Who Are Those People on the Bus?

Like most Americans, I see Greyhound buses on the road all the time. Who actually rides those buses? This is a question I always wanted answered. Now, thanks to author Mike Pentecost, I have an idea of who those passengers are and how compelling their real life stories are.
Proving the theory "everyone has a story" is correct, Pentecost spent 30 days inhabiting a world foreign to most of us. We barrel down the highways of life in our vehicles - usually as sole occupants - with our own agendas, timetables and routes. Pentecost sheds light on those who depend on mass transit to set their agenda, timetables and routes.
It is an interesting premise and an interesting read into a world most of us will never experience.

This guy has guts!

I know I would never do this, so I am glad Mike Pentecost did. What a view of humanity! I could not put this book down. He did an amazing job capturing the colorful dialogue and seemed to find his own voice along the way. By the end of the read I felt like I had been right next to him on the bus. I hope he finds another creative way to explore humanity and America. I would love to read it.

Interesting Take on America

Very interesting conversations with random people on the bus. My long bus ride was 50 years ago, and all I can remember are my swollen ankles from sitting so long. If Greyhound cares as little as they seem to, I doubt they care about what the author has said about them.

For questions with a single answer, the answers will have a button next to them. You will be able to select only one button.
For questions with multiple answers, the answers will have a ‘tick box’ next to them. This allows you to select multiple answers.
You are not allowed to use any reference materials during the certification test (no access to online documentation or to any SAP system).
Clearing the Certification will not automatically lead you to a job.
However a Certification with some project experience will certainly open a lot of doors for you.

Since I was interested in obtaining SAP certifications, and I wanted to give myself the best chance possible to succeed in the exam. This book does not contain the actualo test questions that will appear on the exam. It is a Pretest with questions like the ones that will appear on your test, and going over them will help you study and prepare for when the actual test is sitting on a desk in front of you.. The sample questions were gathered by authors that have actually passed the test, so you can feel comfortable that the book will have material that will be correct and helpful to you as you study.

I purchased this book, and studied the Pre-Test contained in the book, IThe author, NS Thind has a simpe writing style that makes grasping the subject matter at hand simple to do. I now feel ready to take my certification exams after completely reviewing the book. Anyone who is going to take these certification tests really ought to purchase this book in order to properly prepare for the examination. Alexander D. Edsel is Director of the Master of Science in Marketing program for the Naveen Jindal School of Business at The University of Texas at Dallas, where he has been a faculty member for more than 12 years. In addition, he has over 20 years of product management and marketing management experience in both B2B and B2C markets in the chemical, high-tech, and health care fields while at Bayer, Compaq, and Wellpoint.

Edsel's original work and research on failure and underperformance began in 1996 and was first published in March 2011 with an article that appeared in the Product Development Management Association's Vision magazine. Edsel holds both MBA and JD degrees.

Practical Techniques to Mitigate Organizational Failures

Alexander Edsel has written a highly practical book on mitigating organizational failures by enhancing decision making processes. This excellent text can be readily used to understand and apply several effective techniques to mitigate failure. It literally walks the reader, step by step, through the applications.

Edsel maintains that most failures and underperformance are due to: (1) faulty thinking and decision making, (2) voids in the domain transfer of proven techniques of failure analysis and prevention, and (3) lack of professional support of these techniques through certification and continuing education. His book addresses these and provides very practical tools and techniques for solving the first two issues. The last one requires an eco-system for solution, but the book includes recommendations for that as well.

Edsel begins the book with an engaging and fact-based overview of failure, which he finds in multiple disciplines and professions. Using several examples, he demonstrates that we lack awareness of the prevalence of failures and the total costs incurred. Some of this is due to the lack of applying good thinking and decision making. Some of it is due to the sheer complexity of businesses, market dynamics, and processes. He also addresses the iterative failure approach that is in vogue today for entrepreneurial companies and innovation initiatives. While he agrees the approach has validity in several applications, it is suspect for blanket application, scaling businesses and certain industries with liability considerations, e.g., aeronautics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.

Having demonstrated our inability to effectively address failures and underperformance, he then turns to the education of how to minimize risk through better problem framing, failure mode and effects analysis, early warning systems, and root cause analysis. Separate chapters address each solution, walking the reader through definitions, history, cautions, application, and organizational adoption. He also addresses the uses of Artificial Intelligence for failure mitigation and prevention.

The book is one of the clearest expositions of FMEA and early warning system techniques that I’ve seen. I’ve had the opportunity to take a $560M organization through a transformation by implementing a Quality Operating System. In that process, the executives were certified on FMEA and Root Cause Analysis techniques. I wish we had had Edsel’s book then. It would have been quicker and cheaper to educate the leadership on the application of these effective tools and they would have had a resource for daily reference.

Perfect tips on how to find and avoid failure in a business

A must-read for anyone who wants to succeed in any business, whether big or small. It's easy to read in clear language. I liked the real-life examples given in the book. No wonder so many large companies are in trouble. I got the Kindle for myself and a hardcover for my group.

Now I see why my old company was doomed to fail by offering a ton of new products that eventually killed a core group of very profitable assets. The book will helps me focus on finding and stopping failures in my new company.

A Must-Read for Business Decision Makers

I am a big believer in taking precautions actions to prevent costly failure. I love how Alex Edsel has provided a practical and easy-to-read guide to attack this problem. There are many things that readers will find helpful (e.g. the simple yet amazing effectiveness of check lists) but I'd like to point out two of my top favorites: Action Bias and Early Warning System.

Most of us fall into the trap of action bias (chapter 2) and this book gives you frameworks to avoid that. Another valuable point that this books brings forth is the importance of Early Warning Systems. In today's fast-paced world, it is critical for businesses to have the situational awareness and to know how to use real-time digital information to guide decision making.

Heartbreaking, yet hopeful

The Household Spirit is an intimate tale. It's a beautiful study into the human heart and mind that will remain with you for quite some time. The provocative and sometimes unnerving thoughts of these damaged souls will enter your world and will leave their mark upon you. At times tender and at times disconcerting, Tod Wodicka paints a picture of sadness, longing and family that will move you. It's a study of fear that immobilizes, and of misconceptions and desire.

Howie Jeffries is a bit of a recluse. He's divorced and very lonely. He lives on Route 29 in Queens Falls, NY and spends much of his time watching the increasingly odd behavior of his only neighbor, Emily Phane. They have lived next door to teach other for years, but have never spoken. Each one has felt a connection to the other, but they don't reach out to each other until circumstances bring them together. Both of them have their demons and only when they come together does it seem that healing is possible.. These two social misfits find a friendship that is capable of changing them both. I think it both shocks and surprises each character, and watching them interact and get to know each other makes this one a 5 star read.

This is a unique book with well developed main characters and a strong, well laid out story. Heartbreaking, most definitely, yet hopeful, and well worth the read.

A Complex Relationship Examined.

Complex and heartfelt are words I would use to describe this book. Two identical homes, set on an isolated stretch of Route 29 in Queen Falls, NY. sit next to each other. Howard Jefferies is a solitary man, a 50 year old divorced sanitation worker living alone in his family's previous home.
Next door, Emily Phane, the age of Jefferies daughter, lives and cares for her elderly grandfather. Phane and Jefferies don't speak, but they seem to have a comfortable relationship, watching over the other. For Jefferies, it's a paternal type of interest, reminding Howard of his own daughter, long estranged. Emily takes care of her grandfather, suffers sleep problems, and deals with a complex and complicated romantic entanglement of her own. She worries about her Peppy, as she calls her grandfather, and his approaching mortality. After Peppy dies, the relationship between Howard and Emily changes when her home is engulfed in flame and he not only saves her, but allows her to move in with him.

By turns endearing and tender, confusing and complex, this is the story of relationship between them. It's well written and deep, and kept me entranced throughout. Highly Recommended.

Creative and intelligent

As an avid reader one thing that really excites me is when I find a writer who is not just part of a genre but instead a true artist who loves the written word and makes their work a thing of beauty. I l also love an author who has a voice unique to them in their head with rare and different tales that only they could tell. And that is what author Tod Wodicka does for me. He delivers on both. This is a novel about two sad and lonely characters who find a special bond together. But these characters are oddballs in a very special way. We all have characteristics special to us and these possessed by Howie and Emily make them ones the reader will be very curious about and definitely want to discover more about. They shine in their oddness as does the novel. Wodicka is an intelligent literary author and writes here with a wit and humor that brings a whole new layer to this world that Howie and Emily share. I loved this novel and it touched me deeply. In lesser hands this story would have been a no go but in the hands of Tod Wodicka it becomes a must read. It isn't often I am this grateful for the journey an author takes me on.

Sadly boring

shattering my hopes as a reader of the previous two installments of this series, books that had backbone, pace, characters and material.

This thid book is a series of unending, predictable, journeys by the main characters, running, or flying around the place, everything being easiily solved as expected. In relation to the first books it has some new, albeit not original, elements ( the Isles of Sky, for instance ) but, all in all and at the end of the day ot reads pretty much like a YA book.

It is a pity. This Author knows how to do it ( simply read book 1 and 2 ), the fantasy field has standards to which serious readers have become used to, and demand, and this 3rd installment sadly falls short ( at least for me )

added to all this, the annoying lack of Synopsis, which is something I really do not understand in series where books are years apart in publishing.
