Pleasantly suprised

I did not expect what I found in this book. He takes you back to Chemistry and even teaches/reviews the basic concepts for you even better than my teachers did (and then relates it to Botany). I am starting a garden/orchard from scratch just for the experience and thought a thorough read on Botany would make me better. I took Bio, Chem and Physics a while ago and did pretty well (except for Chem...my teacher lectured more about pancakes than ionic and covalent bonding). I did a lot of research on Botany texts and this seemed like the best one. I was not disappointed. If you're a scientist at heart and love the natural world - buy this book. I even ordered a Chemistry text for review due to inspiration from this book. The scientific disciplines are all related, and I hadn't realized that fully until now. I'm not even that far in and already feel that I got my money's worth with the wealth of information. Good luck, and forge forward.

There's more to English football than Premier League

As an American who follows one of the Big (Money) Four clubs in the Premier League, this was an enlightening read that helped open my eyes to what else the English game has to offer. In reading of the history of Liverpool FC, it's hard not to come across names of clubs that have fallen to the periphery of Football--Preston North End where the great Bill Shankly and Tom Finney played, historic rivals Leeds United, and the old powerhouse Leicester fill stories of what once was, but where are they now? I was partly resigned to write these teams off as just existing in the lower tiers of the English Football Association with a small chance of being relevant if they happened to gain promotion into the Premiership. Price helps show that clubs playing in League 2 should not be written off, but instead embraced and supported with just as much, of not more, passion than their big brothers in the Premier League.

This book is more than just a personal journey of dropping Manchester United fandom for a local League 2 side; Price digs in brings out the financial inequities in modern Football and hammers home that it's all about the money. As a fan, of course I'm aware that the rich are very very rich and the poor just can't compete. The simple fact that I can run down the street to a store fully stocked with Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Man U kits absolutely plays into that. Even in the states, it's easier to purchase a Wayne Rooney Man U shirt than it is to purchase a Jermaine Jones or Clint Dempsey MLS shirt. Later today, Shrewsbury Town will take on Chelsea in the League Cup (whatever it's called now), and I look forward to cheering on the League 2 underdogs against the Premier League leaders.

Overall, this is a fantastic journey that chronicles the massive choice to stop following the most successful Premier League club in favor of a local club that only survived relegation out of the League 2 by goal differential. Price investigates life after football, struggles during a League 2 playing career, and the personal connection that a tiny club has to it's small band of ever loyal supporters. Great read! I would recommend this to those who know no other life than Premier League...which is on every Saturday and Sunday morning s and is more accessible in the US than it is in the UK...target audience of millions of untapped consumers maybe?

Seems fair enough,...

it is w hat it is.
can't review the writing or plots because most of the stories are famous as is. Generally, it is a good enough compilation and the translation is acceptible. My only complaint is that it would be nice if they added anote somewhere if a story is known by a different title. For example, thestory now know as Sleeping Beauty is entitled Briar Rose here and you don't realize what it is until you're half done. It's a minor complaint, but otherwise it's good to see the historical version of these tales - and to see some that I haven't known before as well.

In my opinion, most of these are better in their "newer" versions, but it is still nice to see what's been changed.

Well, this a a workbook, really, for ...

Well, this a a workbook, really, for a 'niche' audience, i.e. families who have chosen to immunize their children using Homeoprophylaxis rather than injections. So it's not about plot or anything, but about usability. I find it very well designed, and the program very exciting, since so many children are getting ill from shots. Kate Birch's other books are also extremely well-done. She's a powerhouse.

I think it is a really great program and a blessing to my children

This is a book for families using the FCHi Program. Before you order this, you'll want to contact one of the program supervisors to find out about the program and see if it will fit your family's needs. I think it is a really great program and a blessing to my children, but it's not a do it yourself project. If you are just starting to look into HP, start with "The Solution" or Isaac Golden's book on homeoprophylaxis.

Beautiful art book

[[VIDEOID:moPLEX6WA5EV07]]Rage of Bahamut reminds me very much of another digital card game called Lord of Vermilion. I guess the common point is the slightly more Asian style art. Those who have not played the game before can probably treat this as a fantasy character artbook.

Rage of Bahamut is the popular card battle game on Android and iOS devices released in 2012. There was also a Japanese artbook released later that year called 神撃のバハムートオフィシャルアートワークス. And this is the English edition of that book as translated by Udon. It's a 144 page large format paperback.

The artworks are fantastic, detailed and beautifully coloured. They are split into three groups, women, men and creatures.

Two-thirds of the book are human characters. I prefer the creature artworks though as I've always enjoyed looking at creature designs.

Maybe because the artists are Japanese, or the game was released for Japanese, the character designs have the familiar manga and anime style.

Overall, it's a delight looking at the heavily decorated illustrations. At the back of the book are some process shots of the creation progress, basically from the sketches, to basic colour filling, and the finish coloured version. There's also a brief section that shows how two similar cards are redesigned into two different cards, e.g. with the same character but in different setting.

There are more than 120 cards featured. Each card only has the title and the artist, but there's nothing about the card itself such as the profile or its rarity. That's the downside because I certainly wanted to read the story behind each character and creature.

The only text in the book are the two pages of interviews, one with the junior artists Ponzu, Soji Hisakata, Mushimaro, and the other page with the senior artists Ryosuke Aiba and Tricky Agura.

Even if you have not played the game, you should still be able to enjoy the art.

It's a good artbook.
